Fourth of July

July 5, 2015

Sharon and I hosted Kim’s graduation from the Lake Forest Graduate School on June 29 at our house. It was great weekend for boating but we had more pressing matters.

So this was the first day we were able to get out. Mikey, Sharon and Auntie Debbie and I left the house at 9:30 a.m. for a day of boating.

It was a beautiful day on the lake. After refueling at Belmont Harbor, Mikey took the helm and steered us out and we headed South down the lakeshore. I was trying to explain to Mikey how the trim tabs work and to watch out for the Seadog Tourist Boat.

My explaining did not go well. I need to become a better instructor. I took the helm and we headed to Burnham Harbor by McCormick Place and the old Meigs filed. We pulled into Burnham Harbor to see how the other half lives. There are many big boats there.

One of the biggest is the Lady Sandal owned by Sandals resorts.

After idling through the Harbor, we head back North to go up the Chicago River. Cruising the Chicago River is always very interesting. There are a lot of big boats with young ladies who wear skimpy swimsuits. The sightseeing is awesome in many ways. Thank god Sharon is always on the look out for a great body in a great swimsuit to show me. I get a big kick out watching the guys on the Chicago Police Boat looking at the young ladies. I point this out to my crew and they all also get a big kick out of it.

We transit the locks and head back to Belmont Harbor to drop Mikey off.

After dropping off Mikey, we head up north to Kenosha. It is a scenic ride and we see Loyola University, my alma mater, Northwestern, and the Baha’i Temple and we pull into Wilmette Harbor. While I have been to Wilmette harbor many times during my high school days, this was the first time I was on the water in the harbor. It felt good.
